No matter how much running, conditioning and weight training you do, it will come to naught if your soccer training does not incorporate some soccer ball work. And you definitely need a soccer ball or many soccer balls if you want to practice your shooting skills as well as close ball control.

Soccer balls come in various sizes with size 5 being the size used in professional outdoor matches. Smaller soccer balls are regularly used to improve skill, footwork and control during training.

It is not an unknown fact that some professional soccer players juggle tennis balls in order to improve their close ball control and to heighten their balance and senses. Some soccer professionals are known to juggle the soccer ball around the house. Thierry Henry, a former Arsenal player who has also played for Barcelona and is currently plying his trade with the MLS Bulls in USA is one of them.

Remember that practice makes perfect and most often than not during a soccer match, there is no time to think and it may depend on the instincts and reflexes honed during training and practice to make the shot or not.
