Some might consider shin guards as part of basic soccer gear as professional soccer rules make it compulsory to don shin guards or shin pads when playing. If you are a goalkeeper, then you would require a decent pair of gloves.

Proper soccer gear is very important if you want to go far in the game. Playing without proper soccer gear is akin going out in winter wearing thin clothing. Some people can do it but not everyone is special enough to be able to do that!

Of all the above soccer gear mentioned, the soccer boots or soccer cleats may arguably be the most important as a good one will go a long way in protecting your foot and also enable you to show off your fancy tricks and skills. It is also important to choose the proper soccer cleats for the field of play as each soccer cleat may be designed to perform best on certain grounds. This will be described in further details in later articles.

There are certain individuals who wear sports mouth guards while playing soccer. This is not as much practiced in soccer as in certain heavy contact sports such as boxing and rugby. Unless you do mixed martial arts also ,in which case you should visit freefighting.org as that is a different topic altogether and the issue of mouth guards is discussed in further details there, mouth guards may not be necessary in soccer unless you have pressing medical issues that require you wear one while playing.
